"Hello, small human! Welcome to the Immortal Facets! For one as long lived as yourself, perhaps you have found your true home?"

Yes, simply post that you wish to join the Council, or send me a private message, and I can add you right away.

"I haven't had a home for three thousand years. I don't quite remember how to have one anymore. Maybe I could learn to again.

"But you! How could a planet be sentient? Where is your intelligence stored? Do you have a brain, or do you exist only here in the Immortal Facets? I'm sorry to be so forward, but I don't find much use in dodging around questions."

The planet of Great Thrash is not only sentient, but living tissue of earth! Over time, the continents and islands grow as I will it. Even now my southern side is scabbing over, recovering from a wound dealt to it by Yerkan in the formation of Rivenrock. Yet I do not begrudge him this wound, as something of my life will continue to exist within Rivenrock as well.

I'm no philosophy expert, but I do not think there is any one place on me that could be incised to remove the intelligence from the planet. My god-form here in the Immortal Facets is really just a representation of the animating intelligence of the planet. I am here and there both at once.

"Fascinating! Do your inhabitants know that you're alive?"

Some do. The ratio changes with the times. In the oldest times, the only magics came from the ability to communicate with the living planet. The orc shamans still remember those days and methods in their oral histories.

Today, the wisest and the learned know that their planet is alive. They can see it in the growth of continents, in the way magic moves, in the unlikely cradles of civilizations. There are at least five places (the Caverns of Thrash) where mortals can still go and speak to me directly, if I am wakeful and proper respect is shown.

"I was. In my facet, I served the deity ("nemar," as they are called) Etidorpha. Etidorpha is the nemar of intellect. She tasked me with sealing the nemar of love inside the earth for eternity. I've walked along latitude 45N since the times of ancient Egypt, keeping the earth closed with every step, trying to prevent Love from escaping. It was only recently that I began to question my duty."

"Very interesting. For many ages I wandered on the surface of Thrash, though I had no directive or purpose but my own will and motives. I had died twice already, and it seemed as though permanent death was simply not for me. So I got to forge my own purpose for myself."

"What an interesting concept. Forging your own purpose, I mean. My purpose has always been obvious, but now that I'm stuck on that silly little planet, I've got nothing to do but wait to be rescued. It's intensely boring. That's why I want to be able to travel. At least now I have this place to visit."
